eBay offers shipping options not actually available via eBay

So I list a camera on eBay, and select Canada Post services for shipment to USA.

Here they are:

Note the "Save when you buy a label on eBay" blurbs next to every one.

The buyer chooses and pays for Tracked Packet.

I go to generate the label, and the Canada Post options are not available:

Now I have to pay more shipping than the buyer paid for.

Going to Canada Post directly does not help:

I call eBay, and they won't take any responsibility for this.

Their claims are:

•  eBay does not do shipping, it's offered by separate carriers; (true)

•  Some people ship outside of eBay, but so they offer the option to list those carriers; (true)

•  Just because they list an option, does not mean eBay can always generate a label.

This last despite the very prominent "Save when you buy a label on eBay" blurbs next to every one.

Apparently I'm just supposed to know this, and to know that eBay stopped offering Canada Post labels at some point in the past.

I am, of course, not a business seller, career seller or even a regular seller.  I have no idea what eBay can and can't do.  I just found an old camera in a box and followed the instructions for listing.

eBay flat-out refused to compensate me.

So my options are:

•  Pay for another option myself, meaning I'm out the difference;

•  Contact the seller and upcharge them for shipping; or

•  Cancel the sale and re-list using an actually available option.

I can't say I'm happy about any of these options.

Yes, it's only $13.  But eBay takes their cut of every sale; in return, they should take responsibility for blatantly misleading information.

Or, in other words, they're a $46 billion dollar company that doesn't give a crap.

Shame on you, eBay.  You can do better.
